Banaskantha (Gujarat) [India], September 29 (ANI): Heavy rainfall caused waterlogging in the Ambaji area of Banaskantha district, disrupting normal life and creating inconvenience for the commuters in the area on Sunday.

The relentless downpours caused near-flood conditions in the area, with many vehicles being half submerged in the rainwaters.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall and lightning in parts of the state for Sunday evening.

"Moderate thunderstorms, lightning with maximum surface wind speed 40- 60

"Light rain (5mm/hr) very likely at isolated places in the districts of Gujarat
state, namely Devbhoomi Dwarka, Jamnagar, Morbi, Surendranagar, Kachchh, Patan,

Surat, Tapi, Navsari, Dangs, Valsad, and in Diu, Daman, Dadar, and Nagar Haveli," added the weather department.
Heavy rains also pounded Gujarat's Vadodara city, flooding low-lying areas and causing water levels to rise in the Vishwamitri River, officials reported on Sunday evening.
The city received 76 mm of rainfall in just two hours, causing waterlogging in many areas and disrupting normal life.
According to the latest bulletin issued by the IMD, for the upcoming week, most of Gujarat is expected to remain dry for the first three days of Navratri, except for some districts in South Gujarat.
The bulletin mentions that from October 3-5, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely in isolated areas of South Gujarat, namely Surat, Dang, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, as well as Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli.
This means that Garba festivities in other parts of Gujarat can proceed uninterrupted, as dry weather is expected to prevail. (ANI)
