Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], November 12 (ANI): Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Monday visited Prerana School in Vadnagar, situated on the premises of the school where Prime Minister Narendra Modi received his primary education.
"Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited Prerna School, situated on the premises of the school where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received his early education in Vadnagar," as per an official press release.
During the visit, Chief Minister Patel interacted with students, inquiring about their creative activities and engaging in casual conversations. Students from different states across India presented artistic items representing their regions to the Chief Minister.
Senior officials and dignitaries, including the Chief Minister's Chief Principal Advisor, Hasmukh Adhia, were also present during the visit.
Later in the day, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel honoured two distinguished female classical music artists, Vidushi Padma Suresh Talwalkar from Maharashtra and Pradipta Ganguly from Ahmedabad, with the Tana-Riri Award at the Tana-Riri Festival 2024 in Vadnagar.
As per an official press release, in North Gujarat's Vadnagar, the two Nagar sisters, Tana and Riri, enriched the world with a legacy of classical music through their devotion to ragas. In their memory, and the honour of their ultimate sacrifice for their art, Vadnagar celebrates the Tana-Riri Festival. Inspired by Vadnagar's native and revered Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, this annual festival has taken place since 2003 to share this musical heritage with the world.
"Since Gujarat's Golden Jubilee year in 2010, the Tana-Riri Award has been conferred upon accomplished female classical singers and musicians. Continuing this tradition, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel presented the Tana-Riri Award 2024. Vidushi Padma Suresh Talwalkar from Maharashtra and Dr. Pradipta Ganguly from Ahmedabad each received a cash prize of Rs2.5 lakh, a copper plaque, and the Tana-Riri Award, presented by the Chief Minister," the release read.
Dignitaries in attendance included Tourism and Cultural Activities Minister Mulubhai Bera, Somabhai Modi, Chief Minister's Principal Advisor Hasmukh Adhia, Additional Chief Secretary MK Das, Secretary of Urban Development, Sports, and Cultural Affairs Ashwini Kumar, Secretary of Tourism Rajendra Kumar, Youth Services and Cultural Commissioner Alok Pandey, district organization officials, the District Collector, and other senior officials.
