Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], November 1 (ANI): On the occasion of Diwali, a Snehmilan program was organized for beneficiaries at "Namo Narayan Apartments" in Sargasan, Gandhinagar in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday.
Constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by the Gandhinagar Urban Development Authority, this housing scheme, inaugurated in February 2024, has given new homes to 1,208 families. The Chief Minister joined the beneficiaries, enhancing their joy as they celebrated their first Diwali in these new residences.
During the event, the Chief Minister conveyed Diwali greetings, urging residents to uphold cleanliness in their new society. He remarked, "It is now your responsibility to keep this society as clean as it is today and to make it the cleanest society in Gandhinagar."
The Chief Minister also engaged directly with beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Monaben Dave of "Namo Narayan Residency" warmly welcomed him, expressing, "With your presence, Namo Narayan Residency feels as if it has transformed into Ayodhya today." She thanked both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister for fulfilling the dream of homeownership for individuals from the general category.
Another beneficiary, Kalpanaben Patel, emotionally shared her joy, saying, "Owning a home was something I never imagined possible. Living in such a developed part of Gandhinagar feels like a dream. We only earn enough for two meals a day, and without this scheme, home ownership would have remained just a dream. Now, with a roof over us, we can focus on our children's education."
She also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
Vishalbhai Leuva, another beneficiary, shared his joy, stating, "Having the Chief Minister, who made our dream of owning a home in Gandhinagar a reality, with us for our first Diwali makes this occasion truly memorable."
As part of the celebration, the Chief Minister distributed sweets to the residents of Namo Narayan, joined them in festivities, and enjoyed fireworks with the community.
The event was attended by Gandhinagar North MLA Ritaben Patel, Mayor Meeraben Patel, District Development Officer B J Patel, Standing Committee Chairman Gaurangbhai Vyas, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development R G Gohil, Municipal Commissioner J N Vaghela, former Mayor Hiteshbhai Makwana, Corporator Ushaben Thakor, and Rajeshbhai Patel, all of whom extended their heartfelt Diwali greetings to the beneficiaries celebrating their first Diwali in their new homes.
