Gujarat: 26.26 lakh Tramadol tablets seized worth Rs 70 crores

In continuation of the seizure of 26.26 lakh tablets of Tramadol reported on Saturday, another export consignment of 42,24,000 Tramadol Hydrochloride Tablets worth 70 crores (International Street Value) was seized on Sunday by the Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch of Mundra Customs, said a statement from Mundra Customs.

Kachchh (Gujarat) [India], July 28 (ANI): As part of the seizure of 26.26 lakh tablets of Tramadol reported on Saturday, another export consignment of 42,24,000 Tramadol Hydrochloride Tablets worth 70 crores (International Street Value) was seized on Sunday by the Special Investigation and Intelligence Branch of Mundra Customs, said a statement from Mundra Customs.
After Saturday's seizure, the overall seizure has went up to 68,00,000 Tramadol tablets with a street value of Rs 110 crore, approx, added the statement.
Medicine strips were different in pattern from the first seizure and not contain details of the manufacturer. Follow-up at an abandoned warehouse in Ahmedabad has yielded some more quantities of Tramadol, which are being quantified, read the statement further.
Follow-up searches are continuing in this investigation and investigation into the matter is underway.
Apart from this, Assam police seized 30,000 Yaba tablets worth Rs 9 crore in Cachar district and arrested an accused in connection with the same on Saturday, police said.
The search operation was conducted on the night of July 27 following a specific input regarding the transportation of narcotic substances in the Katakhal area under the jurisdiction of Dholai Police Station.
The arrested accused has been identified as Abdul Alim (42) a resident of Saptagram village under Dholai police station. (ANI)
