New Delhi [India], November 28 (ANI): As both houses of Parliament adjourned for a third day on Thursday amid the demands of Opposition leaders to discuss the Adani indictment, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari questioned the government and asked if they are "scared of Adani."
"I don't understand why is the government so scared. Is this govt being run by Adani or is the govt scared of him? Yesterday also the House was adjourned," Tiwari told ANI.
After the adjournment of Rajya Sabha, he asked, "Why can't there be a discussion when there is so much time? It only means that the govt is scared and it doesn't want a discussion."
Earlier, Congress MP Manickam Tagore also demanded a CBI investigation and arrest of Gautam Adani as they submitted an adjournment motion for a third time in this winter session.
"Today, we have given adjournment notice on the Adani scam. It is the third day when we are demanding a reply from the govt on this," he told ANI.
"It is a very serious issue and we want a CBI investigation and the arrest of Gautam Adani. The parliament needs to discuss this scam," Tagore added.
Earlier on Wednesday too, both the Lok Sabha and Rajya faced adjournments over the Adani issue and other matters, with two Houses of Parliament not transacting any substantial business.
Opposition members have been continuously pushing to have a discussion on the floor on the Adani issue, Sambhal violence and the Manipur situation, raising slogans in the Parliament.
Adani Group has refuted the alleged bribery allegations made in the United States. Adani Green Energy Ltd said in a statement that media articles which claimed "that certain of our directors namely Gautam Adani, Sagar Adani and Vineet Jaain have been charged with violation(s) of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) in the indictment. Such statements are incorrect."
Both houses of Parliament were adjourned till November 29 on Thursday. (ANI)
