Governor Najma Heptullah inaugurates Silver Jubilee of Imphal TSL

Manipur (Assam) [India] Nov 16: Manipur's Governor, Najma Heptulla praised the "women empowerment "done by Imphal Tangkhul Women's Union (Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long) at its Silver Jubilee celebrations.
Heptulla who acted as Chief Guest on the occasion said that the Women's Union has been working for the upliftment of the Tangkhul women tirelessly since its inception 25 years ago. The Union works especially for their social and economic empowerment of women.
During the silver jubilee celebration, cultural dance depicting the war victory was performed by the young artists. Also the folk song, traditional fashion parade was performed by young girls showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the State.
"I am very happy to celebrate this 25 years celebration of Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long. It shows how strongly they feel about their community and the reforms they want to do as far as the socio-development and education is concerned and I wish them all on this occasion, " she said.
The Union is working for education among the Tangkhul women and has been taking up various activities of social service.
A member of Tangkhul woman wing, Sorephy Ruivah said, "Tangkhul woman wing has been working for the betterment of the society and for the nation since its inception. With the arrival of the new generation, the role of the woman is also changing. We as a woman wing, have now a bigger responsibility."
"I feel happy to be a part of this celebration. I am also the first president of TSL, I served 4 terms as a president and it's my great privilege to be part of this Jubilee and with the unit. And it's always encouraging to see our unit celebrating and other events," said Grace Shatshang , President of Tanhkhul Shanao Long.(ANI)
