Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], November 5 (ANI): Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday presided over the 'Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar' programme at Putriyal village in Nadaun assembly constituency of Hamirpur district where 147 "public grievances" were received, a release said.
CM Sukhu directed the concerned officers to redress these grievances on priority.
He said that all ministers had also been asked to participate in this initiative so that public grievances could be addressed in time time-bound manner.
The Chief Minister announced several development projects for Putriyal, including the construction of a new building for Putriyal School and a Health Sub-Center with adequate staff.
He said that efforts are afoot to construct the Lalu-Dhaniyara road and a new road from Putriyal to Talai. The state government will also prioritize the development of a park and a playground for the area, he added.
CM Sukhu said that all roads in Hamirpur district, as well as roads across the state, are being upgraded to double lanes. He said that efforts would be made to provide high-quality water to enhance living standards.
"To secure a better future for the people, the State Government is making bold decisions, even if challenges arise, for the benefit of 75 lakh citizens. I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure their well-being," he said.
Criticising the previous BJP government for financial mismanagement, the Chief Minister said that it offered free electricity, water, and bus travel solely to allure the voters.
He said that the previous Government opened and upgraded over 900 institutions just before the election announcement without making any budgetary provisions, compromising quality in the education and health sectors.
He said that they prioritized politics over providing quality services to the people, which caused harm to the state's resources.
He said that the present State Government was establishing Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding Schools to improve the education system. The state government has also initiated steps to strengthen the rural economy, implementing necessary changes.
Expressing his commitment to his constituency, the Chief Minister said, "Nadaun has been my 'Karambhoomi', and I have served people of the area for more than 20 years. Thanks to the blessings of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, I have been entrusted with the office of Chief Minister, and I will spare no effort in serving the people of the State with dedication and devotion."
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has introduced several initiatives aimed at strengthening the rural economy.
He said that the State will procure naturally grown wheat and maize at rates of Rs 40 and Rs 30 per kg, respectively which will go a long way to ensure the remunerative prices to the farmers. Additionally, the minimum support price for cow milk has been raised from Rs 32 to Rs 45 per litre, and for buffalo milk from Rs 47 to Rs. 55 per litre. The MGNREGA daily wage rate has also been increased to Rs 300, he added.
He said that the State Government handled last year's natural disaster with resilience and provided a special relief package of Rs 4,500 crore to 23,000 affected families, all without central government assistance.
The Chief Minister further said that the State Government would soon provide free education to 23,000 children of widows and single women in the State. He also distributed eligibility certificates to five beneficiaries of the 'Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana'. Additionally, the Chief Minister inspected a development exhibition organized by various government departments on the occasion. (ANI)
