Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 30 (ANI): In a bid to infuse a spirit of nationalism and patriotism among the students, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government has decided to conduct the national anthem in the morning assembly sessions of all the schools of the state.
He also said that the decision has also been taken to unfurl the national flags daily in all the High and Senior Secondary Schools compulsorily. CM Sukhu said that these activities would instill a sense of patriotism among the younger generations fostering a spirit of unity and integrity thereby nurturing them into responsible citizens of the Nation.
He further said that after coming to power, the present state government has brought various reforms in the education system and this initiative was a part of broader efforts to reform the education system. He said that the state government was also making strides to improve the physical well-being of students as Physical Education and Yoga would become mandatory subjects in the curriculum, ensuring that the students dedicate at least 15 minutes each day to physical exercise in all the schools.
He added, "Training in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid would also be provided to the students in collaboration with the Health and Ayush Departments, equipping students with vital life-saving skills."
The Chief Minister further said that these reforms are part of the state government's commitment to provide holistic education that not only focuses on academic excellence but also on physical health, national pride and civic responsibility. "By integrating these elements into the daily routine of students, the Government aims to build a more resilient, united and patriotic future generation," Sukhu added.
A few days before, CM Sukhu had said that the state government is committed to the welfare and upliftment of the weaker sections to create a just and equitable society where everyone has access to opportunities and resources. He said that the present state government has launched various schemes to benefit these sections so that they could lead a dignified life.
In a statement issued on July 27, Chief Minister Sukhu said that the state government is offering a grant of Rs. 1.50 lakh to SC, ST and OBC persons for the construction of houses under the Swaran Jayanti Ashray Yojna whose income is less than Rs. 50,000 per annum. He said that Rs. 17.25 crore was spent under this scheme during the last financial year, benefiting 1150 houseless persons. (ANI)
