Gandhinagar (Gujarat) [India], July 31 (ANI): A program for the distribution of aid to women of self-help groups called 'Sakhi Samvad' was held in Gandhinagar in the presence of Gujarat CM, Bhupendra Patel on Wednesday.
Products produced by women of self-help groups from across the state were showcased in the 'Sakhi Samvad' program. Representatives from across the state enthusiastically took advantage of the occasion and purchased various products in the exhibition of various stalls from all 33 districts of the state.
Under the National Rural Livelihood Mission Scheme, women in rural areas are being made self-reliant by providing skill training to them in all the districts of the state and connecting them with various livelihood activities. With the support of Gujarat Livelihood Promotion Company under Rural Development Department, through various activities like Bharat Gunthan (Fancy Work), Sewing, Catering, Papad, Pickle, Khakhra, Ragi-Bajri-Bajrani Cookies, Mati Kalakam, Lace Work, Jadtaar etc, women are earning a stable income and are becoming more and more self-reliant, resulting in a huge change in their standard of living.

"Today became very important for the economic upliftment of the mothers and sisters of the rural areas of Gujarat. We have given Rs 350 crore assistance for various economic activities to more than 2 lakh 80 thousand women of more than 28 thousand self-help groups in a 'Sakhi Samwad' function at Gandhinagar's Mahatma Mandir today. Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi has resolved to make 3 crore women of the country Lakhpati Didi. To realize this resolution, the Gujarat government is committed to the economic upliftment of the women of Sakhimandal by benefiting them from various schemes," Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel said at the occasion.
"The experience of interacting with the sisters of the Sakhi Mandal and learning about their achievements at the Sakhi Samvad program was very heartwarming and uplifting. Also heard the questions and presentations of the sisters of Sakhimandal. Gujarat government will also make sure efforts for its proper resolution. Many sisters of Sakhimandal in rural areas have become the financial shield of their families by earning millions. The sound of self-reliance and eagerness to do something in the voice of such sisters was seen in this program. The contribution of mothers-sisters in immortality will contribute greatly to making India self-reliant and developed," the CM added.
The transformational story of women from the villages of Gujarat has emerged as a beacon of inspiration. An example of this is how in 2021-22, 8,500 women from Gujarat collected 5,000 metric tonnes of limbodi in just three months, generating a remarkable income of Rs 4 crore, the release stated.
The program 'Sakhi Samvad' encourages the dedication, courage, and hard work of the Self-Help Group Members, and this is a strong step towards women's empowerment. (ANI)
