Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], March 26 (ANI): The Congress workers continued to protest outside the Congress Bhawan in Bhubaneswar against the Odisha assembly speaker Surama Padhy's decision to suspend 12 Congress MLAs for protesting in the well.
The MLAs were suspended for seven days on the charges of "indiscipline, disrespecting the Chair and violating rules."
Congress MLA Sagar Charan Das said that they were protesting peacefully and were raising the issue of 'women's safety'. He added that they are people's representatives and the issue is not a joke. Das further alleged the police assaulted two MLAs and stated that they would continue the protest.

"We were protesting peacefully and we had only one issue- women's safety. The way all MLAs were manhandled and forcefully shifted and insulted is condemnable. We are people's representatives. This is no joke... The question is about society... Police have assaulted two of our MLAs... We will continue our protest. Rules take a backseat when it comes to fighting for the society...", Congress MLA Sagar Charan Das said to ANI on Tuesday.
Congress MLA CS Raazen Ekka stated that they witnessed the hooliganism of Odisha police. He added that the Congress is exposing the BJP government and the MLAs are being mishandled.

"We got to see the hooliganism of Odisha police. The BJP government is scared... Congress is exposing the BJP government today... Our MLAs have been manhandled... We will continue to protest... Congress stands for women's safety and the people of Odisha...", CS Raazen Ekka said to ANI on Tuesday.
Earlier, Congress Odisha in-charge Ajay Kumar Lallu alleged of injuries to the CLP and stated that he was mishandled. Furthermore, Lallu launched a scathing attack on the Odisha government and alleged that 64000 women have gone missing in the state. He also alleged that minor girls are getting pregnant and school-going girls are giving birth in government residences.
"I have talked to the CLP, he has injuries on his hands. He was manhandled... This is a dictatorship... For the Kolkata incident (RG Kar rape and murder case), the President put out a tweet condemning it, but in Odisha, 64000 women have gone missing, gangrapes are happening every day, minor girls are getting pregnant, and school-going girls are giving birth in government residences, and the President has not said a word about it. Our MLAs were demanding a discussion on this... We will continue to fight...", Ajay Kumar Lallu said to ANI on Tuesday.
After being suspended by the Odisha assembly speaker, the 12 suspended Congress MLAs slept in the well itself and protested against their suspension. (ANI)
