Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], September 11 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Goshamahal Raja Singh Lodh wrote a letter to the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, requesting enhanced vigilance during the upcoming Ganesh Visarjan procession on September 17.
He requested Hyderabad Commissioner to take strict measures to control malicious intent during the processions, or someone trying to create nuisance by engaging in inappropriate activities during the 'Ganesh Visarjan' procession.
"I earnestly request that your department takes strict measures to control such behaviour. Increased vigilance and immediate action against those who engage in such disruptive activities will be crucial to ensuring that the Ganesh Visarjan is carried out in a peaceful and dignified manner," BJP MLA T Raja wrote in his letter.
He further stated in his letter that increased vigilance and immediate action against those who engage in such disruptive activities will be crucial to ensuring that the Ganesh Visarjan is carried out in a peaceful and dignified manner.
"As you are aware, the Ganesh Visarjan will take place on 17th September 2024. For Hindus, this is a grand festival celebrated with much devotion. Over the course of 10 days, Ganesh idols are installed in various pandals across Hyderabad, leading to a grand procession for the Visarjan, primarily towards Tank Bund," the letter from Raja said.
"In recent years, however, we have witnessed certain individuals with malicious intent joining the processions, creating a nuisance by engaging in inappropriate activities. There have been incidents where people, sitting on tuskers (trucks), drink alcohol openly and throw water packets at the public, often targeting women in particular. The harassment of women and girls has unfortunately become an issue that tarnishes the sanctity of the celebration. Such behavior is deeply disrespectful and disrupts the spiritual significance of the festival" the letter reads.
"Your intervention will undoubtedly help maintain the spiritual and cultural essence of the festival and ensure the safety and dignity of all participants, especially women" the letter by T Raja reads. (ANI)
