Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], June 22 (ANI): In a significant development for industrial growth under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's leadership, Gorakhpur is poised to witness the launch of investment projects totalling Rs 3725 crore in the current fiscal year. Once operational, these projects are expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately ten thousand individuals, according to a government release.
Notably, seven prominent industrial entities, including the Adani Group, have submitted proposals to the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA), seeking land allocation for their ventures. GIDA is currently facilitating the allocation of preferred land to these investors.
Adani Group, along with other major players, has collectively requested 128 acres of land from GIDA to set up the Ambuja brand cement factory, Lotus Singapore Group for the Bisleri brand bottling plant, Shahi Export for readymade garment cluster, Delhi Public School (DPS) and IIMT University for educational institute, Apollo Tubes for steel pipe factory and Stamm Tech for cold roll forming section, wagon manufacturing and maintenance, the release added.
Once the land is acquired, the industrialists plan to invest a total of Rs 3725 crore, with the largest investment proposal coming from the Adani Group, it added.
GIDA's CEO Anuj Malik presented detailed information on these proposals to CM Yogi during a recent review meeting on development projects. Malik stated that the investors have been shown land according to their preferences and that the next steps in the process will commence shortly.
Notably, the industrial landscape of Gorakhpur has transformed over the past decade. Initially marked by contentious relations, the tenure of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has seen a remarkable shift. Where local capitalists once hesitated to invest in industrial ventures, today sees a surge of renowned national companies vying for space.
Though established on the lines of Noida nearly 34 years ago, GIDA entered the competition nearly half a decade ago.
GIDA has witnessed the inauguration of several large units, including multinational companies, which were previously only a matter of imagination three decades ago, in the last seven years. In just over two and a half years, a PepsiCo unit with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore in GIDA has commenced commercial production. The unit was inaugurated by CM Yogi, it added.
Additionally, CM Yogi has inaugurated the unit of Gyan Dairy with an investment of Rs 118 crore, Tatva Plastic's pipe factory with an investment of Rs 110 crore which supplies to Jal Jeevan Mission, as well as the ethanol and distillery plant of Keyaan Distillery with an investment of Rs 1200 crore and SD International's plastic recycling and food packaging container unit with an investment of Rs 300 crore. The construction of an industrial warehouse of Central Warehousing Corporation with an investment of Rs 50 crore is also almost complete, the release added.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has successfully tapped Gorakhpur's potential for development. Gorakhpur caters to the educational, healthcare, commercial and urban housing needs of the entire eastern Uttar Pradesh, western Bihar, and Terai region of Nepal. Given this, CM Yogi launched several projects in the education, healthcare, urbanization and infrastructure sectors, creating an eco-system of investment. The improved road, rail, and air connectivity has played a significant role in Gorakhpur's development. (ANI)
