Goods train derails in Koraput district; rail services hampered

Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Tokhan Sahu felicitated Anil Marwah, a dedicated enthusiast of the Delhi Metro, for his personal milestone of riding the first train on the opening day of every newly inaugurated metro corridor in the Delhi Metro network.

The Project Elephant Division of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India, organized a two-day national workshop on "Policy Implementation for Minimizing Elephant Mortalities on Railway Tracks" at the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, on 10-11 March 2026, according to an official release.

Sharing the service update on X, DMRC wrote, "Service Update. Delay in train services on the Magenta Line Extension between the Majlis Park and Deepali Chowk metro stations due to a technical issue. Normal services on all other lines."

The new train services will collectively benefit millions of passengers across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Jharkhand. The occasion will also see the inauguration of three redeveloped Amrit Stations in Kerala and the dedication of the Shoranur-Nilambur Railway Line electrification project to the nation.

The Haryana government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation to facilitate free train travel for eligible senior citizens to various pilgrimage sites under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Yatra Yojana, officials said here on Tuesday.
