Gold worth Rs 7 lakh seized in West Godavari

West Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), March 16 [India] ANI: The election flying squad deployed in West Godavari on Saturday seized Rs 7 lakh worth gold and Rs 30,000 cash at Devulapalli junction and Jangareddygudem mandal amid heightened security ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.

West Godavari (Andhra Pradesh), March 16 [India] ANI: The election flying squad deployed in West Godavari on Saturday seized Rs 7 lakh worth gold and Rs 30,000 cash at Devulapalli junction and Jangareddygudem mandal amid heightened security ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The police seized the gold and took cash after the man failed to produce the bills, flying squad official Srinivas Murty said on Saturday.
The man, who was carrying the gold from Vijayawada to Aswaraopeta in a car, came under the radar of the authorities while they were carrying out checks in the region.
Andhra Pradesh will go to polls in a single phase on April 11. Both the Lok Sabha and legislative assembly polls will be held in the state simultaneously.
The state assembly has 175 seats while Parliamentary elections will be held across 25 seats. Notably, this would be the first assembly elections in the region post-bifurcation. (ANI)
