Goa CM inaugurates Durga Pujas, hopes for double-engine government in West Bengal

Paschim Bardhaman (West Bengal) [India], October 21 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, during his visit to West Bengal's Durgapur to innagurate community Durga Pujas said that the State is not progressing the way it should.
"Bengal is not progressing the way it should, I pray to Goddess Durga that the State witnesses good governance (Surajya) in future and development happens uniformly accross the state as currently only some people are getting the beneifts," Sawant said while speaking to reporters on Friday.
The Goa Chief Minister said he prayed for a shift of power in the State in favour of the BJP and conveyed his best wishes to people in the State on the occasion of Durga Puja.
"I wish that the double-engine government (BJP) comes to West Bengal as well so that the way the development is visible across the country, the same development can be seen here as well," he said.
The BJP has invited several union ministers such as Dharmendra Pradhan and Amit Shah to innagurate community pujas in the state.
Last week Shah inaugurated a pandal, crafted by the Santosh Mitra Square Puja Committee, known for organizing grand puja pandals annually is modelled, after the under-construction Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
BJP National President Jagat Prakash Nadda will also be on a one-day visit to West Bengal Saturday according to a press release from the BJP.
Nadda is scheduled to arrive at Kolkata Airport this morning where he will receive a warm and grand welcome from senior party leaders. Following this he will proceed to the puja pandal located at Howrah Ground.
The Durga Puja festival is primarily celebrated in West Bengal, Kolkata, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tripura, and Assam.
Hindu mythology holds that the goddess arrives at her earthly abode at this time to bless her devotees. The significance of Durga Puja goes beyond religion and is revered as the celebration of compassion, brotherhood, humanity, art, and culture. (ANI)
