New Delhi [India], Dec 10 (ANI): Supreme Court on Monday has decided to hear the appeals filed by German bakery blast accused Mirza Himayat Baig and Maharashtra government.
The State government has challenged Baig's acquittal from the provisions of the Indian Penal Code. Baig filed a petition before the apex court challenging his conviction in the case.
While admitting the appeals filed by the Maharashtra state government and Baig, a division bench of the top court headed by Justice DY Chandrachud and also comprising Justice MR Shah, said that the plea will be heard in due course of time.
The apex court has, however, not fixed a date for the hearing in the case.
Baig was the first suspect in the case and was arrested on September 9, 2010 and later convicted on April 4, 2013, with the death penalty.
A bomb blast took place in a German Bakery in Pune in February 2010 which claimed as many as nine lives and injured 40 people. (ANI)
