New Delhi [India], Sept 22 (ANI): The Union Minister for Civil Aviation, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Friday inaugurated a new campus of the Indian Aviation Academy (IAA) in New Delhi.

New Delhi [India], Sept 22 (ANI): The Union Minister for Civil Aviation, P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Friday inaugurated a new campus of the Indian Aviation Academy (IAA) in New Delhi.

The 5.33 acre campus boasts of state-of the art, green infrastructure and facilities.

The new building has been designed with Green Building compliances and has provision for 200kW of solar power generation, 5000 litre-capacity of solar water heating system apart from using energy efficient power appliances and devices.

Addressing the audience, R. N. Choubey said that India is poised to attain its coveted place on global aviation arena as one among top three largest aviation markets, and therefore, aviation education and training, course content and syllabi have to be improved to meet the demand of industry.

Guruprasad Mohapatra, informed that Indian Aviation Academy is a premier training institute of Airports Authority of India, Directorate General of Civil Aviation and Bureau of Civil Aviation. Prior to IAA, the institute was known as the National Institute of Aviation Management and Research (NIAMAR) and has been a premier institute involved in imparting quality training in aviation sector since 1988.

The academy runs regular training programmes in areas of Airport Operations and Aviation Safety, Airport Engineering and Planning, Air Cargo Management, Environmental concerns in Aviation, Regulatory trainings through DGCA, Security trainings through BCAS, Information Technology, Project Management, Material Management, Airport Commercials, Finance and Human Resource Management.

In addition, IAA offers internationally recognized aviation accredited programmes to participants from across the globe in cooperation with partners like International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Airports Council International (ACI). IAA acquired the full membership of ICAO TRAINAIR PLUS programme in 2016 and has developed and validated two Standard Training Packages (STPs) on Runway Rubber Removal and Airfield Pavement Markings.

The institute is in the process of standardizing more training programmes as STPs.

R. N. Choubey, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation, with guests of honour as Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Chairman, Airports Authority of India and NIAMAR Society, and Kumar Rajesh Chandra, Director General, Bureau of Civil aviation Security were also present. (ANI)
