Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], September 10 (ANI): Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party Vice President Narayanan Thirupathy on Sunday said the G20 Summit has "boosted India’s strength" and it will give a fillip to India's economy which is on its way to becoming the third largest economy in the world.
"G20 Summit has boosted India’s strength. We have seen a lot of agreements being signed between so many countries. World trade will develop automatically. India is towards its journey to becoming the third-largest economy. G20 summit will give a boost to it," Thirupathy told ANI.
The two-day New Delhi G20 summit concluded on Sunday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's announcement declaring so.
India took over the G20 presidency on December 1 last year at the G20 Summit in Bali and will continue to hold it till the end of November. The New Delhi Declaration was adopted by G20 leaders on Saturday, the first day of the Summit.
"We have seen a lot of resolutions passed including those aimed at empowering women and tackling climate change. The G20 Summit is one of the exemplary events that have happened in India in this century. We have to thank Narendra Modi for this," The TN BJP vice president said.
He also said that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin's participation in the Summit is a good gesture. The state government should maintain a good relationship with the Centre irrespective of whichever party in power for the development of the state, he said.
Reacting to Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's eradicate Sanatan Dharma comment, the BJP leader said "without Sanathana Dharma DMK would not have come to power."
"Udhaya Nithi Stalin is not aware of DMK’s policies. He says that DMK’s main policy agenda is to eradicate Sanathana Dharma. He says that DMK was founded to eradicate Sanathana Dharma. Udhaya Nithi Stalin should first read what is DMK how it developed how Rajaji(C. Rajagopalachari) had helped it come to power," Thirupathy said.
"Without Sanathana Dharma DMK would not have come to power. The political leaders whom DMK aligned with in the past like Rajaji, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Vajpayee, and now Rahul Gandhi are Sanathana Dharma’s followers," he said. (ANI)
