Fresh snowfall causes traffic jams on Manali-Leh Highway

Manali (Himachal Pradesh) [India], Mar 11 (ANI): As fresh snowfall blocked the roads in Himachal Pradesh, scores of people on Monday had to wait for hours due to long traffic jams on Manali-Leh Highway.
Earlier in the day, India Meteorological Department forecast heavy snow in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.
"Under the influence of the current Western Disturbance over East Afghanistan and neighbourhood along with its induced cyclonic circulation over West Rajasthan and neighbourhood, fairly widespread to widespread rain/snow with isolated heavy falls over Western Himalayan Region," will occur, said IMD in its daily forecast.
On Saturday, the Indian Air Force rescued around 43 people from snow-covered regions of Lahaul-Spiti.
IAF had rescued hundreds of visitors stranded in Kullu also. (ANI)
