Fresh landslide blocks Manali-Keylong highway

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday publicly apologised to legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty, following a political controversy that erupted over the actor's visit to a township in Wayanad built for families displaced by the catastrophic Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide in 2024.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday visited the Wayanad township to meet the survivors of Mundakkai and Chooralmala landslides, highlighting that the party has promised 100 houses for them, claiming that the Central government has been lacking in their efforts for victim's rehabilitation.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will lead the ceremony at Elston Estate in Kalpetta, where he will distribute title deeds to the first group of beneficiaries who lost everything in the disaster.

According to an official release, the group comprises 11 girls and 19 boys from Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, University of Ladakh, and the Central Institute of Buddhist Studies, Choglamsar. During the 13-day tour, the students will visit Gurugram, Chandigarh, Manali, and Jammu as part of a structured exposure programme aimed at fostering national integration and regional understanding.

Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Thursday assured complete support to people as he laid the foundation stone of the new houses to be built by the Congress for the survivors of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide in Wayanad.
