Four-tier security arrangements, over 3,000 policemen for India-Australia ODI in Mohali tomorrow

Security arrangements have been beefed up in Mohali ahead of the ODI match between Australia and India on Friday, a senior police officer said.

Mohali (Punjab) [India], September 21 (ANI): Security arrangements have been beefed up in Mohali ahead of the One Day International (ODI) match between Australia and India on Friday, a senior police officer said.
"We have established four-tier security arrangements for this match. IG Ropar is the overall in charge of security during the match. Around 3000 police manpower and 15 teams of anti-riot police were deployed. Many car parking slots have been created for visitors. Traffic advisory issued for Mohali residents," said Punjab Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Arpit Shukla.
On the other hand, amid the ongoing drive to break the gangster-terrorist nexus in Punjab, the state police on Thursday launched a state-wide crackdown against various gangsters and raided over 1,159 suspected places and hideouts of their associates.
As per the police officials, one person was arrested while 30 were detained for further questioning.
The simultaneous raids were carried out from 7 am to 2 pm on the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, wherein, all the residential and other premises of associates, relatives and friends linked with various gangsters, were thoroughly searched in all the 28 police districts in the state, an official statement from the police department said. (ANI)
