Johannesburg [South Africa], Jan 4 (ANI): At least four persons were killed and scores wounded in the passenger train crash in South Africa on Thursday.

An emergency responders' group, Netcare 911 reported the death toll on Twitter.

In addition to this, it says about 40 people were injured.

A Shosholoza Meyl passenger train collided with a truck and a car near Kroonstad in South Africa's Free State province, the local media reported.

The death toll is likely to increase.

The cause of the accident is yet not known.

The Shosholoza Meyl train, which operates between the country's major cities, was heading to Johannesburg from the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, according to the reports. (ANI)
