Overseas patients come for neuro, dermatol ayurvedic treatments: Goa AIIA's Panchakarma Dept Head

"They do come for the treatments for either neurological cases or dermatological disorders. Most of the time, we observed that these two are the major cases; apart from that, they are definitely suffering from musculoskeletal disorders, and they are coming for treatment in such cases. We do achieve very good outcomes in such cases. Probably, they are aware of this institute, as well as the system of medicine, which is giving a wonderful outcome in cases. Most of the time, we do get patients from either Russia, the UK, or the USA," Dr Praveen said.

Dhargal (Goa) [India], January 23 (ANI): The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is providing 'Panchakarma' treatment to neurological and other patients in Goa. The centre has become the first choice for foreign patients seeking treatment for several ailments.

Speaking with ANI, Dr Praveen, Head of the Panchakarma Department at AIIA, explained the treatment process.

"Panchakarma involves treatment through five methods. We have more than 100 types of these. We provide Panchakarma advice tailored to the patient's condition. Here, there are many patients suffering from neurological disorders, and people suffering from bone diseases and muscle diseases also come. Our institute also has patients with diabetes, who are treated with Panchakarma," he said.

Dr Praveen also highlighted the centre's popularity among foreigners.

On the hospital’s capacity, Dr Praveen said, "We do treat around 900 to 1000 in the OPD, outpatient department, every day and then IPD, we have got a capacity of 150-bedded hospital right now, and we have got a 70 to 80% of occupancy at any given time. We do treat through panchkarma, especially. As far as panchkarma treatments are concerned, we are treating around 100 to 150 patients every day."

Among the patients benefiting from the treatment is Natalia from Russia, a 63-year-old mechanical engineer suffering from joint and lower back pain and optic atrophy for the past eight years. She is currently receiving care under Dr Praveen and Dr Chintamani at AIIA.

Speaking to ANI, Natalia said, "I am better than in previous years after taking Panchakarma and other medications at AIIA. The treatment has shown a good response, and I am improving." (ANI)
