New Delhi [India], September 15 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday stressed that the government is taking strong steps to control flooding and air pollution in the city.
The chief minister said drainage systems across the city have been cleaned, reducing waterlogging during rains, adding that the current flooding is limited to the Yamuna floodplain areas due to timely preparations.
Speaking at Aadhar Infra Confluence 2025, Rekha Gupta said, "We are working on all points where, during heavy rains, waterlogging is a big problem. We have done some work on all these points. Now, the waterlogging issue during the rains has been almost resolved. Looking at the flood-like situation in Delhi, we are already prepared. We have completed the necessary preparations, and the drainage systems have been cleaned. That is why the flood in the Yamuna River is only in the Yamuna floodplain areas. We are working on solutions so that people living in the floodplain do not have to face problems."
The Chief Minister said the government is fully prepared to tackle air pollution during the winter.
She said over 1,000 water sprinklers are in use, and anti-smoke guns have been installed on all high-rise buildings and construction sites across the city.
"With the winter season approaching, the Delhi government is well prepared, and we are working on that. So that the people of Delhi will not suffer from air pollution, more than 1,000 water sprinklers are in operation, and anti-smoke guns have been installed on all high-rise buildings and construction sites in Delhi," Gupta said.
CM Gupta highlighted that more electric buses have been added under the Devi Scheme to improve public transport.
She also said that the Aarogya Mandir health centres are fully equipped with medical staff, tests, and medicines to provide quality healthcare to the people of Delhi.
"More electric buses have been introduced in Delhi under the Devi Scheme. The former government of Delhi did not fulfil their duties or responsibilities towards the people of Delhi. At Aarogya Mandir, we are providing all the facilities to the people of Delhi. All kinds of tests and medicines are available there, with proper medical staff, including doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff," Gupta said. (ANI)
