First-ever computer-based test for IIT-JEE Main Exams 2019

New Delhi[India], Apr 15 (ANI): National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the largest and first-ever computer-based test (CBT) for IIT JEE (Main) Examination this year. Also, for the first time, the candidates of IIT JEE (Main) examinations were given the opportunity to appear twice in a year-- in January and April-- for taking the best of the two scores.
In JEE (Main) exam, 10,25,000 candidates appeared in April and 10,13,000 appeared in January, nearly 72 per cent of them being common candidates, according to a press note by NTA
"The tests for JEE (Main) were conducted in April. The exams were held on 7, 8, 9 10 and 12 of this month...Paper-1 (for BE./B Tech) was conducted in 4 days and 8 shifts. Paper 2 (for B.Arch./B.Planning) was conducted in a day's time and two shifts," NTA said.
A total number of 10,25,130 (Paper-1 and 2) candidates appeared in the Examination. 668485 Candidates out of 9,35,741 (71.42 per cent) appeared for Paper 1 in January as well as in April. 22,894 candidates were registered for the Examination
"The examination was conducted without any glitch in 470 centres in 267 cities including nine outside India locations and was monitored by 30 State Coordinators, 263 City Coordinators and 592 Observer...CCTV Surveillance was done in all Examination Centers besides live streaming of centre locations and recording of CCTVs System of all Examination Centers at the Control Room Established at its office in Noida," NTA said.
"In order to prevent any cheating using mobile networks, jammers were installed in all the centres," it said.
Candidates will be able to see their responses to the question papers and will get the opportunity to challenge the answer keys from April 14-16. (ANI)
