FIR registered against West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh

New Delhi [India], October 6 (ANI): An FIR was registered against West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Dilip Ghosh at the Darjeeling Police Station on Friday.

Santay Gurung, one of the accused of yesterday's incident, filed an FIR against Dilip Ghosh saying that BJP cadres came to the hills, which is peaceful and tried to destroy the peace and worsen the situation.

The written complaint of Santey Gurung read that on the day of the incident, the leaders of the BJP held an anti-Gorkhaland meeting at the GDNS Hall. Due to this, the complainant, along with others, demonstrated against them showing black flags.

The BJP leaders and followers then attacked them, and assaulted their female members and threatened to kill them.

The written complaint of Manoj Dewan, the Darjeeling district BJP president, however, had read that during the Bijoya Sammdan programme of the state BJP, where Dilip Ghosh and others were present, some hooligans attacked them and started shouting slogans.

Due to this, several BJP members got injured. They also harassed BJP female delegates, stole Rs. 700 and threatened to kill them.

Earlier in the day, the Darjeeling Police arrested two people for allegedly manhandling BJP workers in district.

Darjeeling Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Chaturvedi confirmed the arrest of the accused, who were identified as Chandan Thapa and Santay Gurung.

Yesterday, Dilip Ghosh, along with other party workers, were allegedly manhandled in Darjeeling by the supporters of rebel Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leader Binay Tamang.

The incident took place during Ghosh's three-day visit to the hills following unrest over the demand for a separate state.

Ghosh cancelled the public meeting soon after the alleged attack. (ANI)
