Finnair weighs passengers with carry-on baggage

New Delhi [India], November 5 (ANI): Passengers travelling with Finnish airline, Finnair can now expect weighing scales in different parts of the Helsinki airport to get themselves weighed with their carry-on luggage.

The exercise is part of a study by the airline company to determine accurate data on passenger standard weights.

"Our intention is to gather enough data from our own network and own customers to verify that we have quality data in use for our calculations," Finnair's India GM Chacko Desmond said in an official statement, and added, "It is an authority requirement that this kind of data is gathered close to the airport departure, so we have the scale near different gates."

Desmond stressed that the survey is purely voluntary and anonymous, and not targeted at only Indian customers.

The customers will be informed more about the project by the airline staff, and then they can choose to get weighed.

Finnair conducted a similar study in the 1980s, and has decided to update the data due to their growing and developed traffic. (ANI)
