Adilabad (Telangana) [India], Nov 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government did not implement the Centre's 'public friendly' schemes in the state, fearing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would get the publicity.
Shah, who was addressing an election rally here, blamed Chief Minister Rao for not fulfilling many of his promises. "KCR had promised airport in Adilabad. What happened? Not yet started. KCR had promised construction of 18 tanks. Not even excavation works were started. KCR had promised a town hall in Adilabad. What happened to that town hall," he asked.
"KCR had even promised two-bedroom houses. Forget about it. Even the funds sent by the Centre under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMJAY) are not being spent. KCR had promised Rs 80,000 crore for tribal welfare but did not spend even Rs 8 crore. KCR is afraid of Modi and fears that if Modi's schemes are implemented in Telangana, Modi will get much publicity," he went on adding.
Accusing KCR of indulging in minority appeasement, Shah said, "KCR had surpassed all others in minority appeasement. He announced 12 per cent reservation for Muslims and prevented the reservation for Tribal. TRS MPs are speaking in favour of illegal migrants from Bangladesh," he said.
"Congress president Rahul Gandhi is four steps ahead of KCR in minority appeasement. The Congress manifesto says reservations for minorities in government contracts, separate hospitals for them, separate Urdu quota. The leaked manifesto of Congress is anti-constitutional. Earlier also, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said that Muslims have the first right on the resources. But it was only Prime Minister Narendra Modi who said that it is the poor and the needy, who have the first right on national resources," he said.
Attacking Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Shah said, "Rahul Baba is roaming in some areas of Telangana. Can he get Telangana rid of All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen? Can Kodandaram and communists do that? Can KC Rao and TRS do that? No. In fact, KCR and others are afraid of MIM. That is why they are not even celebrating Telangana Vimochan Day. Had not Komram Bheem and others sacrificed their lives, we had to take Visa and passport to enter Telangana."
Shah also referred to how the Congress did not allow the funeral of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao in Delhi. "Congress damaged the Telugu pride. When senior Congress leader and former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao passed away, his body was not allowed to enter the Congress party office. Then Congress leadership did not even let his last rites to be performed in Delhi and forced his body to be flown to Hyderabad," he said.
Shah informed the gathering that the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi had exponentially increased the budget for Telangana. "During the Congress rule at the Centre, Rs 16,000 crore was allocated for the state whereas the BJP government at the Centre has increased that amount to Rs 2.35 lakh crore," he said.
BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao, Union Minister Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and BJP candidates of six Assembly constituencies of Adilabad district were also present on the dais. Telangana goes to assembly polls on December 7. The counting of votes will be done on December 11. (ANI)
