Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) [India], September 10 (ANI): The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Wednesday organised a state-wide police station march against the alleged brutal attack on a Youth Congress worker in Thrissur. Party leaders and workers staged a protest march in front of the Museum police station in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
The protest was inaugurated by former KPCC president K. Muraleedharan, who launched a scathing attack on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, accusing him of failing to control the police.
Muraleedharan alleged that not only the case of the Youth Congress Mandal President but instances of police atrocities were on the rise across Kerala and held the Chief Minister directly responsible, stating, "This is the fault of the system, and the system is controlled by Pinarayi Vijayan. He keeps all departments under his custody, so he doesn't have time to concentrate on anything.
He further criticised the Chief Minister for handling too many portfolios, including the General Administration and Home Departments, while also pointing out lapses in other 31 sectors, such as environmental protection.
"Now there is a new section in the police department, this has all illegal connections. P V Anwar, who was a ruling party MLA for many years, called it the underworld," Muraleedharan added.
Escalating his criticism, Muraleedharan accused the government of shielding certain officers, alleging that they had helped BJP MP Suresh Gopi to win from Thrissur by sabotaging the Thrissur Pooram festival.
"The CM's office worked as a centre of gold smuggling, and the CM did not understand it. These goons will damage CM. A Youth Congress leader was taken into custody and brutally attacked. After one and a half years of legal fight, this came to light," he added.
Muraleedharan further stated that police arranged liquor, ganja, and other items for goons in jail, and even women were put naked in police stations on the basis of fake registered cases.
Predicting political change, Muraleedharan declared, "By the next Onam, the Chief Minister will not be in Cliff House. Whatever attempts you make, we will defeat you in the election." (ANI)
