Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], August 17 (ANI): A man killed his 19-year-old daughter over her relationship with a married man with two children in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, police said on Saturday.
The man strangled his daughter to death at their house near the Virpur Dam area, under the jurisdiction of the Girwai police station, late Friday evening. After committing the crime, the man went to the police station and confessed, they added.
"A case of has been against a man for killing his daughter. The young woman had eloped six months ago with a man. Two days ago, the police found her in Rajasthan's Udaipur, and handed her over to her family. She had also expressed her wish to return home," said ASP Niranjan Sharma said.
"After committing the crime, the man went to the police station and informed the officers about the incident. He has been taken into custody," the ASP said, adding that a love affair is believed to be the motive behind the incident.
The man told the police that his daughter had eloped with a man named Narendra Jatav, who was already married and has two children.
"The man's daughter wanted to marry this man, and despite the family's efforts to dissuade her, she insisted on staying with him. Agitated by this, the man strangled his daughter to death with a safa (cotton gamcha)," the ASP said.
When asked about the man the young woman wanted to marry, who was also reportedly missing, and speculation that he might have been kidnapped by the young woman's brother, ASP Sharma said that CCTV footage was being reviewed and an investigation was underway.
