New Delhi [India], Mar 24 (ANI): A woman from Arunachal Pradesh suffered miscarriage and when the family members were on their way to complete medical procedures before cremating the foetus, they were "waylaid" and "mistreated" by a police officer, her sister has alleged.
In a letter to Delhi Police Commissioner, the complainant has said her sister suffered a miscarriage and the unborn child was handed to the family on March 23.
However, while they were returning back after collecting the foetus, they were intercepted by a police Sub-inspector and were detained at the police station, despite presenting the documents related to the foetus, the complaint claimed.
The lady, in her letter to the Police Commissioner, has also claimed that the family had attempted to register a complaint regarding the alleged harassment at the Dwarka police station but it was not registered.
In her letter, the lady has demanded action against the police officials concerned for alleged "harassment" and refusal to accept a complaint.
According to the police, a security guard had informed them about the presence of a foetus in Dwarka sector-12 market, which upon inquiry, was said to have been extracted from a resident of Arunachal Pradesh.
As per the police, the same was handed over to a senior consultant and fatal diagnosis of Apollo Hospital, Sarita Vihar, and after necessary medical diagnosis was cremated by relatives after verification of related documents. (ANI)
