New Delhi [India], July 30 (ANI): Indian foreign policy has failed after US President Donald Trump completely "rejected' bilateral relations with India following imposition of 25 per cent tariffs on our goods, Congress MP Tariq Anwar said on Wednesday.
Speaking to ANI, Tariq Anwar said, "With this, in a way, US President Donald Trump is rejecting India-US relations. This is a failure of our foreign policy."
The Government late evening said that it has taken note of the statement by the US President on bilateral trade.
A statement by the Commerce and Industry Ministry today said that India and the US have been engaged in negotiations on concluding a fair, balanced and mutually beneficial bilateral trade agreement over the last few months.
"We remain committed to that objective," the statement said. It said the Government attaches the utmost importance to protecting and promoting the welfare of our farmers, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs."The Government will take all steps necessary to secure our national interest, as has been the case with other trade agreements, including the latest Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement with the UK," the statement said.
