Bhagalpur (Bihar) [India], Aug 6 (ANI): Former Superintendent of Bhagalpur shelter home Pradeep Sharma has been arrested.
Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in its social audit report had mentioned that the arrangements for children at the shelter home were not good.
The incident came to light after a girl escaped from the shelter home and informed the police how they were all treated like servants.
This comes after similar audit reports revealed the horrible conditions of the inmates at shelter homes in Uttar Pradesh's Deoria and Bihar's Muzaffarpur respectively.
In Muzaffarpur, the shelter home case was uncovered around two months ago after a report by TISS revealed that the inmates were sexually abused. Notably, it was this organisation's report which revealed that as many as 40 girls have fallen prey to sexual abuse at a Muzaffarpur shelter home.
For those unversed, on July 24, 11 employees of the shelter home in Muzaffarpur were arrested for allegedly sexually harassing the girls. On receiving information, the police raided the vicinity and rescued 44 girls. The shelter home was run by Brajesh Thakur. (ANI)
