"Everything is proceeding peacefully": Bhubaneswar DCP ensures smooth Durga Puja processions, five immersion pits set up

Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], October 4 (ANI): The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Bhubaneswar, Jagmohan Meena, confirmed that the arrangements have been made for the Durga Puja in the city.
He stated, "Today, the Durga Puja procession is taking place in Bhubaneswar, and immersion sites have been set up at five locations. The police have made elaborate arrangements. Wherever the procession is taking place, police are present, and senior police officers are also present... Everything is proceeding peacefully..."
Five immersion pits have been set up in Bhubaneshwar with the deployment of various departments, including the fire department, BMC staff, and police department. There is an interdepartmental coordination for peaceful and smooth processions.
To reduce water pollution, the administration has set up "artificial immersion pits" instead of immersing the idols of Maa Durga in the rivers. These pits are located along the banks of rivers.
According to the DCP, the five pits have been set up at Palasuni, Hanspal, Basuaghai Tankapani Road near the Kuakhai River, Lingipur near the Daya River, and near NIT at Chandaka. The total force deployment for the arrangements is 55 platoons.
Meanwhile, Puri celebrated Durga Puja with its unique traditions. BJP MP Sambit Patra highlighted the distinct cultural practices of Puri, particularly during the Vijayadashami celebrations. Unlike other parts of India, Puri observes the festival as Gosani Yatra, where idols of Goddess Durga, affectionately called Gosani, are worshipped with great fervour.
Yesterday, after Durga Puja, Vijayadashami was celebrated across India, and the immersion festival of Maa Durga was celebrated. But Puri has a different culture. Its culture is very unique. Here it is called Gosani Yatra. Durga Maa, whom we lovingly call Gosani. All the mothers have come to Mahaprabhu Jagannath Ji as part of the Gosani Yatra, and they are all present here today...may Mahaprabhu Jagannath bless everyone on this auspicious occasion...," Patra said.
The Gosani Yatra is a blend of Shaivite, Shakta, and Vaishnavite traditions, reflecting Odisha's rich spiritual heritage. It is not just a festival but a celebration of the divine connection between the community and their deity. (ANI)
