New Delhi [India], June 26 (ANI): Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil on Thursday highlighted India's rapid economic progress and inclusive development over the past 11 years, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the transformation across sectors.
Patil said that India has made big progress since 2014, rising from the world's 11th largest economy to the 5th, and is moving towards the 4th position.
He added that the government has worked for all sections of society, including women, youth, and farmers, and highlighted achievements like the success of Chandrayaan and direct help to farmers.
Speaking at the press conference, CR Patil said, "In 2014, India's economy was ranked 11th in the world, and today we are at number five, moving towards number four. This kind of progress was beyond our imagination. Even in space, we achieved success with Chandrayaan, thanks to the hard work of our scientists and the support of the government. If we talk about overall development, this government has worked for everyone women, youth, and farmers. In the last 11 years, every section of society has received something meaningful."
Patil said that earlier, farmers had to struggle for help, but for the first time, the Prime Minister launched a scheme that gives them Rs 6,000 directly in their bank accounts every year without needing to apply.
He said this has given farmers the respect and support they truly deserve.
"Earlier, no one had made a proper plan for farmers. Though we call them Annadata, they often had to plead with local officials just to get basic support. For the first time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi respected their dignity and created a scheme where, without any application or request, Rs 6,000 is directly deposited into farmers' bank accounts every year, based on their needs. This kind of support had never been given to them before," he added.
He further said the government has sent a strong message to Pakistan and terrorists through tough actions, showing that India will not tolerate any threats.
"In Pahalgam, we have seen how our government sent a strong message to Pakistan and terrorists. Everyone is aware of the surgical strikes and other bold steps taken by the Government of India to ensure the country's safety and security," Patil added.
Patil said that Rs 501 crore has been allocated for the Jal Jeevan Mission, with the ministry focusing on water conservation through public participation.
He added that around 35 water restoration structures have been built in Gujarat's Banaskantha district with the help of residents.
"Rs 501 crore granted for the Jal Jeevan Mission, and the Jal Shakti Ministry is actively working on it. Our focus is on restoring water sources with the help of public participation. In Gujarat's Banaskantha district, with the support of local people, around 35 structures have been built to conserve and restore water," he added.
Regarding the Sindhu water treaty, Patil said, "I am not directly responsible for this matter, but we follow whatever decision is taken by the Government of India. Any action taken will be in the interest of everyone and for the benefit of the country."
Union Minister CR Patil responded strongly to the Pakistani leader Bilawal Bhutto's statement on the Indus Waters Treaty and said, "Bilawal Bhutto said many things, but we are not afraid of his comments, 'Hum gidar bhabkiyon se nahi darte'. (ANI)
