Engine of goods train derails near Katihar rail yard

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday virtually flagged off the country's first salt container train from Shivlakha and inaugurated four Gati Shakti Cargo Terminals in Gujarat's Kutch and Bhuj regions.

In a major enforcement drive, the District Fisheries Department in Bihar’s Katihar intercepted a major consignment of prohibited Thai Magur (African catfish) fish weighing approximately 50 quintals and valued at around Rs 5 lakh near the Routara toll plaza, detaining three persons, District Fisheries Officer (DFO) Katihar Sanad Kumar Singh said on Tuesday.

According to the district administration, approximately 8,80,140 people in Katihar have been affected by the floods so far. Many villages next to the river banks still remain flooded. 

Both up and down trains are operating and running normally, the official said.
