Encounter breaks out in Shopian

Two alleged shooters wanted in connection with the murder of a businessman in Bawana were injured and arrested following an encounter with the Delhi Police in the Rohini area late Monday night, officials said.

Arun Kumar, elder brother of the deceased on Saturday demanded an encounter after the death of his brother Tarun Kumar during a clash that erupted in the Uttam Nagar area of New Delhi during Holi celebrations.

Singh was arrested in connection with the murder of ASI Gurnam Singh and Home Guard Ashok Kumar. According to police, while he was being brought to the station, the police van flipped, following which he ran away with a bike and revolver. He was soon caught by the police but managed to flee again, and the police encountered him.

A fire broke out at a shop in the Sadar Bazaar area of Delhi on Wednesday, officials said.

An incident of a gas leak from a cylinder occured in the Raoji Bazaar Police Station area on Thursday.

Two bike-borne assailants opened fire indiscriminately at a residence late at night on Wednesday in the Tejab Mill area of Delhi's Farsh Bazaar.

Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with the security forces near the Indravati River area in Chhattisgarh on Thursday. Several weapons, including an SLR rifle, an INSAS rifle, and a 12-bore rifle, along with explosives, were recovered. The operation was launched based on intel about the Maoist presence in the area.

Speaking to the media, the DIG stated that Gurmeet Singh supported his team with great bravery throughout the entire operation, and while encountering Dilawar Singh during this mission, he himself got injured.

Two terrorists were killed on February 4 in an encounter under Operation KIYA in the Jophar Forest area of Basantgarh. On the same day, another terrorist was neutralised in the Dichhar area of Kishtwar under Operation Trashi-I.

Sanjeeb Panda, Additional Director General (ADG) of Police, Anti-Naxal Operations (ANO), said that the encounter took place in the Karada forest area within the jurisdiction of Raikia police station in Kandhamal district.
