Editors Guild of India

New Delhi [India], May 7 (ANI): The Editors Guild of India has condemned the incidents of physical attacks on journalists in West Bengal during the fifth phase of polling on May 6.
Journalists belonging to different media organisations including NewsX, ABP Ananda and Zee news were attacked, allegedly by Trinamool Congress workers.

The Guild has urged the Election Commission of India to initiate necessary action against the miscreants and asked the West Bengal government to ensure law and order in the state so that journalists could carry out their professional duties safely.
A number of incidents of violence have been reported in various parts of West Bengal during the ongoing polls.
After the conclusion of the fifth phase of polls held yesterday, the Bharatiya Janata Party wrote to the West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Aariz Aftab seeking re-polling at the poll booths where violence broke out.
It also accused the state police of "perpetrating" violence in support of "TMC goons." (ANI)
