ECI team meets leaders of political parties in Jammu

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Mar 5 (ANI): A delegation of Election Commission of India met the leader of political parties here on Tuesday to review the election preparations in the state.

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Mar 5 (ANI): A delegation of Election Commission of India met the leaders of various political parties here on Tuesday to review the election preparations in the state.
Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman of the National Panthers Party said, “We are of the view that if Parliamentary elections can be conducted in J&K then why not the assembly elections? You can’t bereave people from their voting rights.”
“They should conduct elections without getting influenced by political party. BJP is trying to delay assembly elections but not parliamentary. The recent Municipality and Panchayat elections have been conducted peacefully,” he added.
Meanwhile, denying the allegations of causing delay in conducting assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP leader Kavinder Gupta said, “BJP has put forward its stand that the assembly elections should take place along with parliamentary elections. BJP is ready for elections.”
Leaders of Congress, National Conference, People’s Democratic Party were also present in the meeting.
A team of ECI is on a two-day visit to review the poll preparedness in Jammu and Kashmir in the run-up to the upcoming general elections. (ANI)
