ECI extends gratitude to officials for their "significant" contribution during elections in 2024

The Election Commission of India on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Paramilitary forces, Indian Air Force and Railways for their contribution to the peaceful conduct of elections in 2024.

New Delhi [India], October 9 (ANI): The Election Commission of India on Wednesday expressed gratitude to the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Paramilitary forces, Indian Air Force and Railways for their contribution to the peaceful conduct of elections in 2024.
Calling their contribution "significant" and "commendable", the Election Commission thanked them for the seamless and peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and Assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir.
In a social media post on X, the ECI wrote, "EC expresses gratitude to officials from MHA, Paramilitary forces, IAF & Railways for their significant & commendable contribution in the seamless & peaceful conduct of recently concluded #LSElections2024 & Assembly elections in J&K & Haryana during an event at #ECI today."

The Lok Sabha general elections were held in India from 19 April to 1 June 2024 in seven phases, to elect all 543 members of the Lok Sabha. Votes were counted and the result was declared on 4 June to form the 18th Lok Sabha.
According to the Election Commission of India, the BJP won 240 seats, much lower than its 2019 tally of 303. The main opposition Congress, on the other hand, registered a strong growth, winning 99 seats against 52 in 2019.
Meanwhile, the assembly elections in Haryana were held on October 5 while that of Jammu and Kashmir was held in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1. The votes were counted on October 8 for both the states.
The BJP is set to form its third successive government in Haryana as it won 48 seats in the 90-member assembly as per the results announced on Tuesday. The Congress won 37 seats while the National Conference-Congress alliance is on course to form government in Jammu and Kashmir as results of assembly polls on Tuesday sprung a few surprises.
National Conference-Congress alliance has secured absolute majority in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, winning 48 seats.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) carried the alliance to victory by winning 42 seats in the results declared on Tuesday. Congress could win only six seats. Ninety seats went to the polls in Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. The BJP also put up a strong performance, winning 29 seats.
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's PDP secured three seats, while Sajad Gani Lone's People's Conference and Aam Aadmi Party won one seat each. CPI(M) also won one seat. Independents won seven seats. (ANI)
