Mulugu (Telangana)[India],August 11 (ANI): Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy on Monday came out in support of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi's allegations of "vote theft," during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and alleged that the Election Commisison is turning a "blind eye" and the very "essence of democracy is being threatned" due to the poll body.
Reddy told ANI, "Rahul Gandhi has done an exclusive revolution to protect democracy... The Election Commission is either turning a blind eye, or is negligent, incapable or incompetent and our very essence of democracy is being threatened because of it..."
Meanwhile, Kerala BJP chief Rajeev Chandrasekhar slammed Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi over his allegations of electoral malpractises during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and accused him of having a "track record of manufacturing stories" and allegations against the Constitutional bodies.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar told ANI on Sunday, "...Rahul Gandhi has a track record of manufacturing stories and allegations against Constitutional bodies, against Government, against the Indian armed forces. We have seen this in 2019 with Pulwama. We saw this in 2008 during the Mumbai attack. They will always manufacture a story and you must ask today why is he doing this. I will tell you my theory"
The BJP leader further accused the Congress MP of distracting the party leadership following a series of electoral losses under his leadership."The Congress party today is a very disgruntled party. After repeated losses under Rahul Gandhi, the Congress party is in a churn. To distract the Congress party leadership, the Congress party workers, Rahul Gandhi manufactures these controversies..."
He noted that the electoral rolls are accessible for scrutiny and said criticised Rahul Gandhi for being on the "vaction all the time", referring to his foreign trips"
Everybody who today is in politics, knows that the electoral rolls are available to every political party for scrutiny before elections. Rahul Gandhi doesn't know it because he is on vacation all the time. We are not to blame, the people of India are not to blame...Uptil now, he was blaming the EVMs. Now he has abandoned the EVM, now he is going to electoral roll."
Meanwhile, after Sunday's notice issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Karnataka and the reminder from the CEO of Haryana, the Election Commission has once again reiterated its strict decision that Rahul Gandhi still has time to give a declaration on the first letter of the CEO of Karnataka and a reminder from the of CEO Haryana or apologise to the country.
The Karnataka CEO has asked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to submit documents to inquire into his "vote theft" allegations against the ECI.
In a letter dated August 10, the Karnataka CEO stated that Rahul Gandhi has claimed to have documents presented during his August 7 press conference from the Election Commission of India records, alleging that a voter, Shakun Rani, voted twice based on data shown by a polling officer.
The polling body further stated that upon preliminary inquiry, Shakun Rani has denied voting twice. The CEO's office also found that the tick-marked document presented by Rahul Gandhi was not issued by the polling officer, raising questions about the authenticity of the claim.
The Karnataka CEO requested Rahul Gandhi to provide the relevant documents that form the basis of his allegation so that a detailed investigation can be conducted by the Karnataka electoral authorities. (ANI)
