'Ease of Doing Business' means ease of living: PM Modi

New Delhi [India], Nov. 4 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the recent improvement of India's ranking in the World Bank's list of 'Ease of Doing Business' also means improvement in quality of the lives of the people.

While speaking at the 'India's Business Reforms' session in the national capital, the Prime Minister said this milestone has been achieved only because the ruling government followed the path of reform to reduce the problem of the life of a common man.

"The ranking of the World Bank is also a ranking of ease of living life. The improvement in this ranking means that the life of the common people in the country has become easy," the prime minister said.

Prime Minister Modi said it is due to the sincere effort the government, that improvement in the World Bank ranking has been witnessed and from this position it is easy to improve further.

He expressed confidence that the ranking will further improve due to roll out of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

"This report has not taken into account implementation of Goods and Services Tax, as the list was made before it as rolled out in India. With GST we are moving towards modern tax-regime," he said.

Stressing on the importance of job creation, Prime Minister Mod said, for a young country like India, 'job creation is an opportunity as well as a challenge' and for that the government is positioning India as a Startup nation and a global manufacturing hub.

"We are keen to develop India into knowledge based, keen sported and technology driven society. A good beginning has been made through Digital India and Skill India initiatives. Our mantra is reform, perform and transform. We want to keep on doing better," he said. (ANI)
