New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): DUSU president Tushar Dedha filed a complaint at Maurice Nagar Police Station in Delhi against the act of vandalism by NSUI members at his office on Sunday morning.
According to the complaint, Abhi Dahiya, NSUI member and DUSU Vice President had been pressurising Tushar to let him embezzle Rs 18 lakh of DUSU Funds, and when Tushar stood up against him, he decided to defame and attack him.
With an intention to seriously hurt Tushar Dedha, Abhi Dahiya called more than 40 of his supporters and goons, and consumed alcohol in his office with them while waiting for the DUSU President to arrive.
According to the complaint filed by him, at around around 3 AM on July 14, completely drunk, Abhi Dahiya and his supporters attacked and destroyed the office of Tushar Dedha, also breaking a Lord Ram idol and Swami Vivekanand portrait kept in the office. They also looted his watch kept in the drawer and also attacked the offices of Aprajita, DUSU Secretary and Sachin Baisla, DUSU Joint Secretary.
Tushar Dedha has filed a complaint against Abhi Dahiya and his accomplices.
ABVP member Tushar Dedha told ANI, "The Delhi Police has assured that they will take strict action. In the complaint, we have mentioned damage to government property. Some cash and a watch are also missing".
Meanwhile, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) strongly criticised the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's and alleged that the members of ABVP were trying to divert attention from the critical issue of fake degrees allegedly held by their office bearers at the University of Delhi.
NSUI President Varun Choudhary said, "This is a clear attempt by the ABVP to shift focus from real issues like the NEET, NET, and NTA scams. ABVP has consistently indulged in violence across Indian campuses. At the University of Delhi, they have repeatedly resorted to violence, including thrashing and threatening professors. These actions are not only condemnable but also reveal their true intent to mislead students and cover up their own malpractices."
In his detailed statement, titled "Our Response to ABVP's Diversion Tactics", Choudhary said, "The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) condemns the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's (ABVP) attempts to divert attention from the critical issue of fake degrees held by their office bearers at the University of Delhi. ABVP's fabricated violence, attacks on idols, and production of counterfeit degrees are efforts to mislead students and shift focus from their malpractices. (ANI)
