During Independence Day celebrations, Lokpal chairperson advocates for transparent governance

New Delhi [India], August 15 (ANI): Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar, Chairperson, Lokpal of India hoisted the national flag on Independence Day and said that institutions such as the Lokpal, must act as the watchdog and lend support to transparent and corruption-free governance.
According to an official release from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, "Lokpal Chairperson, Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar said that institutions such as the Lokpal must act as the watchdog and lend support to transparent and corruption-free governance."
He exhorted the officers and staff of Lokpal of India to give their best to achieve the goal enshrined in the Constitution of India.
The national flag was hoisted by Justice Khanwilkar, Chairperson, Lokpal of India, in the presence of Justice Sanjay Yadav, Sushil Chandra, Pankaj Kumar and Ajay Tirkey, said the release.
Justice Khanwilkar extended greetings of Independence Day to all the members, senior officers, staff and family members and recalled the sacrifices of all those who laid their lives to give us a free and independent Bharat.
Justice Ajay Manikrao Khanwilkar emphasised that our country is progressing rapidly on every front to make Atmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat.
"With this growth comes an increase in commercial activities and with that comes greed of some uncouth countrymen. Institutions such as the Lokpal, must act as the watchdog and lend support to transparent and corruption-free governance. He exhorted the Officers and Staff of Lokpal of India to give their best to achieve the goal enshrined in the Constitution of India," he said.
Saplings were also planted by the Hon'ble Chairperson and Members of Lokpal, India on this solemn occasion.
India's Lokpal is an anti-corruption authority that represents the public interest and acts as an ombudsman to investigate complaints against the administration. The word "Lokpal" translates to "Protector of People". (ANI)
