Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 7 (ANI): Durga Vahini, the women's wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, held a protest march, demanding justice over the rape and murder of junior doctor at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.
Durga Vahini workers demanded strict actions against the accused.
Chief of Durga Vahini Ritu Singh alleged that the Bengal government is involved in the case.
"This fight will go on till we get justice, How can one man earn that much from the hospital, how can one man go inside the hospital like that, The government is involved in this case," Ritu Singh said.
Arnimita Pal, a Durga Vahini worker, stated that their protest will continue until justice is delivered.
"Everyone who is involved in this case shall be punished. We will continue our fight till they get punished," Arnimita Pal said.
The body of the trainee doctor was found in the seminar room of the hospital on August 9. The incident sparked nationwide protests. A civic volunteer was arrested shortly after. The CBI also arrested Dr Sandip Ghosh, for alleged financial misconduct at the medical establishment.
Earlier, BJP's Jyotiraditya Scindia targeted Mamata Banerjee, alleging that an 'environment of terror, fear, and violence has been created' in West Bengal.
"...In our scriptures, it is written that where women are worshipped, god lives there. Sadly, an environment of terror, fear and violence has been created in West Bengal under the rule of TMC's Chief Minister (Mamata Banerjee), where women are not only exploited but also murdered," Scindia said.
He added, "Today, no one, including women, youth, businessmen, and common people, is safe in West Bengal... What is the relevance of such a government under the leadership of a woman CM, if the women are not safe here?". (ANI)
