New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): Delhi University (DU) has reversed its decision to hike fees for corrections in degree certificates and mark sheets after protests from Academic Council (AC) members, claimed AC members.
Earlier, DU had announced plans to double the charges for those seeking corrections in their degree certificates or mark sheets, according to an official order. The fee hike recommendations were made by a committee formed by Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
The matter was presented to the Academic Council for approval. However, after a discussion in the AC meeting on Friday, the proposed fee hike was rolled back.
"After a thorough discussion in the AC meeting, we ensured that the fee hike is rolled back," said Mithuraaj Dhusiya, an elected member of the Academic Council.
DU was set to increase the fee for corrections in mark sheets within six years from the date of graduation from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000, and from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000 for corrections made after six years. For degree certificates, the fee was similarly increased.
The committee's recommendations were initially approved by the relevant authorities on June 4, the order stated. (ANI)
