Drug peddler's property worth over Rs 92 lakh attached in J-K's Rajouri

The Jammu and Kashmir Police has attached properties worth over Rs 92 lakh belonging to a drug peddler in Rajouri district, officials said.

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 15 (ANI): The Jammu and Kashmir Police has attached properties worth over Rs 92 lakh belonging to a drug peddler in Rajouri district, officials said.
"Continuing its action against drug peddlers, Jammu and Kashmir Police in District Rajouri attached properties valuing approximately over 92 lakh rupees as the said properties were proven to be acquired through illegal means and proceeds of narcotics trade," as per a press release.
"Whenever any property is made from the earnings of narcotics trade, we seize it and take legal action. Today we have seized the property of Barkat Ali's son... has a property worth around Rs 1 crore... we have proved that he has made it (the property) with money earned from drug sales...This property has been seized," Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rajouri Musadiq Basu, said.
Police in its official statement, said that a team of Police Station Rajouri has attached this residential complex valued around 92 lakh in the Kheora area of Tehsil, District Rajouri.
"The residential complex belongs to a notorious drug peddler, namely Basid Ali, son of Barkat Ali, a resident of the Kheora area of Rajouri," as per the release.
The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, police said.
"Police said that the mentioned immovable property, during course of investigation in case FIRs no. 204/2023 U/S 8/21/22/25/27-A NDPS Act, has been proved to be acquired from proceeds of narcotics and illegal means and thus the said property U/ 68F of NDPS Act has been attached," as per the release.
A team of police headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Rajouri, Deputy Superintendent of Police headquarters Rajouri, SHO PS Rajouri, and Incharge PP City attached the property as per the laid down procedure of law in presence of Executive Magistrate First Class Rajouri.
"Earlier also, several properties valuing crores of rupees have been attached in similar action," Police said in the release. (ANI)
