Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], August 7 (ANI): BJP Spokesperson ANS Prasad slammed Tamil Nadu government for revoking the suspension order of liquor licences within 48 hours of top five-star hotels, despite violating the rules.
Additionally, he said that the welfare of students from Madras University is being neglected, which sparks concerns about the government's commitment to youth of the state.
Prasad reiterated, "Thousands of students who completed their studies in 2023 and 2024 are still awaiting their graduation certificates due to the prolonged vacancy of the Vice-Chancellor position. This delay has resulted in significant consequences, including missed opportunities for higher education, domestic job losses, and visa processing issues for abroad studies.".
He highlighted that the absence of a vice chancellor has left students demotivated and frustrated, raising questions about the Tamil Nadu government's commitment to public education.
"We urge the government to prioritise the welfare of students and take immediate action to address their concerns," he added.
According to ANS Prasad, the government's prompt response to the hotel industry's requests, while neglecting students' welfare, raises concerns about its priorities.
He condemned it, saying, "It is unacceptable that the government creates opportunities for revenue through liquor sales while disregarding the future of its educated citizens."
"We request the Government of Tamil Nadu and the Governor to take immediate action: appoint a Vice-Chancellor for Madras University, issue graduation certificates to affected students, and address the concerns of students impacted by this delay", he advised.
Prasad demanded transparency in investigations and decision-making processes and to hold the government accountable, to ensure a brighter future for the students of Tamil Nadu.
"We request a prompt response and resolution to this matter, ensuring that the students of Madras University can pursue their dreams without further hindrance," he added. (ANI)
