New Delhi [India], February 2 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami campaigned for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Pawan Sharma in Delhi's Uttam Nagar Assembly constituency on Sunday, urging people to vote for BJP and ensure the formation of a "double-engine government" in the national capital.
While addressing a public meeting organised in support of BJP candidate Sharma, CM Dhami said, "Delhiites are now well aware of the corrupt policies of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress. The shop of hollow promises and cheating the public is now going to close. He added that the people of Delhi have resolved to form a double-engine government of BJP this time."
Uttarakhand CM further appealed to the people to support the BJP. "The double-engine government of BJP will not only accelerate the development of Delhi but will also ensure a stable and strong governance for the people of Delhi."
Meanwhile, on Saturday, CM Dhami launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party and accused former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal of making 'fake' promises on education, healthcare, employment, and pollution control.
CM Dhami also pointed out the AAP's failure to clean the Yamuna River and alleged that the party, while failing to deliver on its promise to clean the river, has been shifting the blame onto Haryana.
On Sunday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw conducted a door-to-door campaign in preparation for the Delhi Assembly elections.
Speaking to ANI, he said that Delhi's harmony, culture, and historic tradition must be revived, adding that people have decided to vote for BJP to ensure the city's development."
Delhi's harmony, culture and historic tradition have to be revived and people have made up their minds to vote for BJP to make Delhi developed," he said.
In the previous two elections, held in 2020 and 2015, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) saw a resounding victory. The national capital is all set for a three-way contest between the ruling AAP, the main opposition BJP and Congress.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to take place on February 5, while counting of votes will be held on February 8. (ANI)
