Patna (Bihar) [India], January 14 (ANI): Amid growing speculations of yet another political realignment involving Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party, the JD(U), ahead of the upcoming legislative elections in Bihar, RJD MP and Lalu Prasad Yadav's daughter, Misa Bharti, has dropped what could be widely deemed a big hint of what the coming weeks might hold for the state's political landscape.
Replying to a question from reporters on Tuesday about Nitish's possible return to alliance with the RJD, she said, "Discussions have been going on for quite some time now... I don't think anything is going to happen." Responding to a second query, the RJD leader refused to rule out any possible political upheavals in the coming days.
On being asked about the ongoing buzz about a major change in the state's political landscape, she stated, "I keep saying that nothing is impossible in politics. It would be too soon to comment on this... Kharmas (an inauspicious period before Makar Sankranti) will end after today. All auspicious events, including politics-related, can take place after today."
Notably, last year, Nitish Kumar formally broke off his alliance with the RJD by resigning as CM and joined forces with the BJP to be sworn in for another term at the helm of the state government hours later, all in the span of one day -- January 28 -- two weeks from Makar Sankranti 2024.
On January 4 this year, Nitish criticised the state of affairs from the time when Lalu used to rule Bihar as its CM, "Bihar ki halat kaafi kharab thi." Prior to this, Union Minister and JD(U) leader Lallan Singh had reacted to Lalu's statement that the Mahagathbandhan alliance's doors are always open for Nitish. Reacting to the statement, Singh said, "We (JDU) are with the NDA and with full firmness. I cannot react to what people say--there is freedom of expression; people can say whatever they want." (ANI)
